Aaron Odell, our resident massage therapist and personal trainer is now a certified bike fitter! He is excited to put his passion for cycling into good use at body firm! Aaron has been racing for 16 years and worked as a mechanic and performed bike fits at three different bike shops over the years. Now he has taken things to the next level and offering a comprehensive bike fit, taking into account a persons specific goals and bio-mechanical limitations. Aaron will be offering bike fits for road, track, triathlon, and mountain bikers.

The philosophy behind all of Aaron’s work is “quality movement”. By quality we mean, efficient, powerful and free from pain. In a bike fit he aims to find the most ideal position for YOUR body on YOUR bicycle. It is important to set a bike up based on ones personal flexibility and specific body measurements. Setting up a persons bike to make them look as aerodynamic as the pros seen in the Tour de France is not always the best thing to do, in reality some people could do lots of damage to their body’s trying force their body’s into a less than ideal position. The ideal position will mean it will feel comfortable, it will allow you to move freely and you will be putting out the most power to the pedals! Without fail, someone who meets all the above criteria also LOOKS BETTER when they are riding.

The bike fit will focus on all your points of contact on the bike. This starts with the shoe and pedal interface. This contact point is arguably the most important part of the fit! When you go for a ride you can stand up and get off the seat, you can move your hands to different positions when you feel like it, however your feet are locked in to the same position for the entire ride while doing thousands of repetitions. This means if your cleats and your shoes are not set up properly it will equal thousands and thousands of repetitions that are doing damage to your joints. On the flip side, when they are set up well you feel more powerful and don’t wreck your joints! The other parts of the fit include the seat position and the position of your hands. Having all of these contact points set up properly will yield more enjoyment, more comfort and get you were your going faster!
