MONTHLY NUTRITIONAL TIP

Do you ever get stuck on what to cook, how to cook it and still make it tasty AND low calorie? How would you like to cut 300 or more calories from your day, without really changing your diet?

    Here are some suggestions:
  • Instead of 2 eggs, have 4 egg whites and save yourself 100 kcals (and get in more protein)
  • Instead of drizzling olive oil on veggies and pastas, use a pump spray and limit to 2 or 3 pumps, just enough to coat the pan and save yourself 100-200 calories
  • Instead of having a 5 oz steak, have a 5 oz halibut steak and save yourself 200 or more kcals!
  • Instead of blue cheese, ranch, Italian or balsamic vinaigrette, have just balsamic vinegar or a low calorie salad dressing and save yourself 100-500 calories!
  • Instead of cheese, nuts and avocado on your salad, have only the avocado and save yourself 200 or more calories!
  • Instead of half and half in your coffee, ask for foamy nonfat milk and save yourself 50 or more calories, change the milk to soy and you’ll add just a few more calories, but you will also add heart healthy soy to your day!
  • Instead of having a coke or Pepsi, have a water or herbal tea and save yourself a minimum of 150 kcals!

Just think…if you do several of these a day, you could lose several pounds a month!

These are just a few tips on how to reduce calories from your diet without turning your diet upside down! Enjoy!
